If the promoted tweets are not forwarded or replied to by users, then they will disappear according to co-founder Biz Stone. This will encourage ads to be engaging and informing, persuading users to take a certain action.

Twitter has been growing rapidly since it was founded four years ago and now has around 45 million regular users. It has previously shown hesitation to enter into the world of advertising, but with an increase in users, the site is to take a more proactive approach to marketing.

Despite criticism from industry commentators who believe that the promoted tweets could put off some users, Twitter believes that the quick action of the site in removing irrelevant ads will ensure that users still hold control.

Among Mindspeed(R)'s showcased products at the NAB Show is the company's recently introduced M21170 crosspoint switch, which represents a significant leap beyond the 144x144 devices that are used in the majority of today's large routers. The M21170 uses a single chip to create a 288x288 non-blocking matrix for a router's switching core, replacing the four cascaded 144x144 crosspoints required to achieve the same number of inputs and outputs. This method significantly reduces the size, cost and complexity of today's largest switchers. Mindspeed's quadrupling of the core matrix will double this available switching capacity, enabling users to route significantly higher numbers of serial data streams.

Mindspeed is also featuring its M21004 2x2 switch and equalizer for long printed circuit board and backplane traces. The 2x2 non-blocking crosspoint switch is optimized for Serial Digital Interface (SDI) applications, and has the capability to run up to 3.2Gbps. At 36mW per channel, the M21004 offers versatility by including integrated trace equalization at the input, plus output de-emphasis, isolated input and output supply voltages, as well as an on-chip regulator.

Sketch Nation Shooter is a really great concept for a game. Heavily based in user generated content, Sketch Nation Shooter allows the user to become the level developer, providing a simplistic set of tools for content generation that can easily be uploaded to Facebook to share with the masses. Overall, it’s a great idea that more games should try and incorporate.

I really appreciated the user generated content that is allowable in this game. Sketch Nation Shooter provides a game engine that scrolls a screen, and allows the user to fill in the graphics of the environment, the main object or character, and the enemies within the level. This concept is really great, and the imagination of the user is the limit.

In order to effectively show off the true power of the games engine, Sketch Nation Shooter comes with 5 demo games to try out, each providing one full level of content. These range from top down air/space shooters similar to a Xevious, a car dodging game, and an aquatic side scrolling game. None of these games provide a lot of game play, but they do a lot to show off the unique variations that users can create with a little creativity and ingenuity.

Encouraging people to register for their vote, the collaboration was announced today in the media.

BBC news reports that Facebook users who frequent the site over the weekend, will be prompted to see if they have registered to vote. If they click on ‘no’, they will be redirected to the Electoral Commission site, allowing them to give their details online and complete the registration process by printing off a form, sending it to their local electoral office. The printed form allows regulation against electoral fraud.

Webuser.co.uk also reports that the social networking site itself, is championing the general election by creating a Democracy UK page, giving key information about the political parties.
