Four out of five isn't bad: SEO expert pushes the '80-20' rule - Brafton
search engine optimization (SEO). Enge writes that the 80-20 rule is particularly useful to gaining an understanding of the idea that "the easiest way [to differentiate a website from its competitors] is to do the hard stuff really well." Tasks like creating lists of potential target sites for link building are time-consuming and difficult, and Enge says that most search engine optimization (SEO) professionals do not do them. It is this, however, that provides a large advantage to those who do, according to Enge.

High-volume content generation, too, can be a difficult but rewarding challenge to search engine optimization (SEO) professionals, Enge writes. Hiring specialist content providers to churn out large amounts of unique content can stretch SEO staff and budgets, but the results are frequently superb, says Enge.

Search engine optimization (SEO) experts warn against some of the "shortcut" methods to SEO, saying that it can be difficult for a site that takes only the standard SEO measures to rise above the herd.

Thoughts on Time Warner's 2009 Box Office Performance - BloggingStocks (blog)
Nevertheless, according to Moviefone , Time Warner's movie operations captured an estimated $3.99 billion at multiplexes around the globe. Yes, it's an impressive feat, and it was done with the help of a major franchise.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince grossed well over $900 million on a worldwide basis. Even more amazing was the performance of surprise comedy hit The Hangover . And to think, that one had an R rating, something that tends to limit the potential for big success.

Time Warner execs obviously did a good job at the movies, but the investor in me tends to get a little cynical when I hear about such top-line feats. Wouldn't it be better to see who had the most profitable collection of films during the year, the ones with the best profit margins and cash flows? Too bad we'll never hear about it. Such information is not required to be given out. And I would argue that it should be, since it would give investors a valuable insight into deal structures and budget construction. Analysis of the financial impact of content generation would be a much easier job.

Another thing that needs to be kept in mind is the number of projects released. As Moviefone pointed out, Time Warner released a large quantity of celluloid. Viacom ( VIA ) did a great job of exploiting its smaller slate, taking full advantage of blockbusters such as the Transformers sequel.

Ten Sports Stories to Watch in 2010 - BusinessWeek
Even though Melanie Oudin has yet to win another WTA main-draw match after her joyous U.S. Open march through Russian seeds (Dementieva, Sharapova, and Petrova) before she was eliminated by a Dane (Wozniacki), the young American is still poised to be our newest sports endorsement sweetheart in 2010. As long, of course, as she makes it to at least the quarterfinals of the Australian Open. And keeps winning thereafter.

Oudin cemented one new six-figure multiyear sponsor, BackOffice Associates , during the Open, and veteran sports marketers are predicting that in the next few years the sky's the limit for the plucky blonde teenager from Atlanta. Oudin finished the year ranked No. 48 in the world and as the third-ranked American woman behind aging Serena and Venus Williams. Her career earnings to date are $351,710; look for that figure to triple in 2010.

) in NBC Universal will come to fruition sometime in 2010, depending on the whims and political inclinations of the FCC and other relevant federal regulators. The distribution giant's full-blown entry into the world of content generation will result in one of the biggest entertainment companies in the world, one that could give ESPN its first true competition in the sports sphere, especially since the newly merged company would have the financial resources to bid on the rights to any and all of ESPN's current high-profile properties, including Bowl Championship Series games and Monday Night Football .
